Government Green Home Grant

Recently the new Government Green Homes Grant has been announced. This is a scheme which you could be eligible for. It entitles certain homeowners and residential landlords a grant for refurbishments to make homes more eco-friendly and energy efficient. This green home renovation grant covers work such as low-carbon solutions alongside roof and wall insulation.

This government initiative is to help reduce the production of carbon dioxide, reduce energy consumption and generally make UK homes more green.

Those eligible for the grant must be homeowners and residential landlords residing in England. This also covers:

  • Park homes on residential, traveller and gypsy sites
  • Shared ownership and long-leaseholds
  • Private and social sector landlords
  • Local authority and housing association landlords

Contribution Amount

As an eligible homeowner or landlord, you could receive a maximum grant of up to £5,000 towards the work. However, if yourself or someone else in the home is entitled to specific benefits, you could be granted a voucher to cover 100% of the cost up to £10,000. This excludes landlords.

Work Covered by The Grant

The Government Green Homes Grant covers the labour, materials and VAT of various areas of eco-friendly home improvement work. There are primary measures which include insulation and low carbon heat. Then secondary measures which include heating controls and insulation, windows and doors. The voucher only covers secondary measures if a primary measure has been installed.
